David Blaine set a new world record for breath-holding, Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 17 minutes and 4.4 seconds ( using oxygen beforehand) , during a live telecast of The Oprah Winfrey Show in Chicago. He failed to break the world record for holding breath without breathing pure oxygen beforehand, David Blaine has blamed his minders for this failed underwater record-breaking attempt.

The American illusionist insists it was unfair that his minder pulled him out of the water two minutes shy of the world record set at 8 minutes 58 seconds.

David Blaine’s attempt to hang upside down for 60 hours was rubbished after curious New Yorkers arrived at Central Park’s Woolman Rink to witness the unusual event and found him standing upright. September 24, 2008
